About

Wandoo woodlands are a distinctive and quietly powerful part of Western Australia’s natural landscape. Dominated by the wandoo tree (Eucalyptus wandoo), these open forests are known for their smooth, pale trunks and broad canopies that let light spill across the woodland floor. In summer, the bark sheds to reveal soft tones of cream and silver, giving the landscape a bright, open feel.

Found mainly across the inland south-west, wandoo woodlands support a rich mix of plant and animal life. Native grasses, wildflowers, and low shrubs thrive beneath the trees, while birds and insects are drawn to the nectar-rich blossoms. The open structure of the woodland creates a balance between shade and space, making it an important habitat for species adapted to drier conditions.

Strong, adaptable, and deeply tied to place, the wandoo woodland reflects resilience and quiet beauty. It is a landscape shaped by climate, soil, and time — offering a sense of openness, light, and enduring connection to the land.
