About

The karri forest is one of Western Australia’s most extraordinary natural landscapes. Dominated by the towering karri tree (Eucalyptus diversicolor), these forests are home to some of the tallest hardwood trees on Earth, rising more than 60 metres into the sky. Their pale trunks and high canopies create a cathedral-like atmosphere, where light filters softly through leaves and the air feels cool and alive.

Found mainly in the high-rainfall regions of the state’s south-west, karri forests support rich biodiversity. Beneath the giants, dense understorey plants, mosses, and ferns thrive, providing habitat for birds, insects, and native animals found nowhere else. Seasonal wildflowers add colour to the forest floor, while ancient soils and flowing streams tell a story millions of years in the making.

More than just a forest, the karri landscape is a place of quiet power and deep cultural significance. It invites visitors to slow down, look up, and experience the scale and beauty of nature at its most impressive.
